Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing

EMDR or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing is a therapeutic technique targeting specific feelings or past traumatic experiences.  The eye movements are utilized to desensitize the emotional charge and the physiological responses people experience from the memory of traumatic experiences.

By desensitizing the emotional charge the brain can the process the information restoring the person to a normal level of functioning. First used with veterans of war to address post traumatic stress, EMDR is now used for all types of trauma as well as helping to refocus ;the mind to be more productive and clear from disturbing memory.
